abstract: This report provides an introduction to mercury and how it affects human health and the
environment. It describes how mercury circulates in the environment, particularly in
fish, and discusses current environmental levels and how these may detrimentally affect
wildlife. The report explains what Canadian governments are doing about the problem and
how members of the public can contribute. Lists government publications for further
information and provides links to useful Web sites.
